THE CHAMBERLAIN NETWORK
Launching a civic nonprofit brand with the credibility, clarity, and infrastructure to grow.
CORE CHALLENGE:
The Chamberlain Network was entering a crowded and politically sensitive civic space with a focused mission, an experienced founding team, and the need to build immediate credibility across veterans, partner organizations, policymakers, and funders.
SERVICES PROVIDED:
Market landscape research, positioning, visual identity, brand system, website strategy and implementation, social toolkit, collateral, event materials, motion design, and video production.
PRIMARY OUTCOME:
A launch-ready brand and digital platform that helped TCN enter the field with the credibility, clarity, and visual distinction of a more established organization, then continue evolving as the organization quickly expanded its role.
WHEN THIS WORK MATTERS:
For new organizations, initiatives, or movements that need to launch with immediate legitimacy, communicate a complex mission clearly, and build the infrastructure to grow beyond the founding team.
SELECTED WORK
THE MOMENT
The Chamberlain Network was created by leaders with deep experience in veterans advocacy, democracy work, and civic engagement. After years working inside a larger institutional environment, the founding team was ready to create a more focused and agile organization built around the specific issues, audiences, and ways of working they believed the moment required.
The initial ask was brand and website support. But the deeper need was larger: to help a new organization enter a complicated landscape with the clarity, credibility, and infrastructure to be taken seriously from the start.
The space was crowded, with many organizations working around veterans, democracy, patriotism, and civic engagement relying on the same visual cues, language, color palettes, and symbolic shorthand.
TCN didn’t need to look like another veteran nonprofit. It needed to feel like an organization built for the next chapter of civic leadership.
THE STRATEGIC SHIFT
The goal, help The Chamberlain Network move from a founding team with a mission to an organization built to carry a movement.
In a crowded veterans space, the opportunity was not simply to look different. It was to change the conversation around what veteran leadership could mean in civic life. TCN needed to recognize veterans for what they had given, while offering a clear vision for what they could help build next.
The strategy centered on a larger understanding of service: that the oath doesn’t end when the uniform comes off. For TCN, veterans are trusted voices and civic leaders with a continuing role to play in protecting democratic institutions, strengthening civic culture, and helping communities navigate a charged political climate.
The brand needed to hold that responsibility with restraint.
Urgent without becoming alarmist.
Patriotic without becoming predictable.
Confident without becoming partisan.
That became the foundation for a brand platform built not only to launch an organization, but to give veterans a credible, actionable role in the next chapter of civic leadership.
THE WORK
Hoflen partnered with The Chamberlain Network as a key member of the launch team, working closely with leadership to turn a focused mission into a credible organizational presence.
Market landscape research helped clarify where TCN needed to separate from familiar category conventions. That strategy became a visual language rooted in military influence but designed for differentiation, drawing from military cartography, directional movement, competing forces, and the need to balance multiple civic perspectives to create a disciplined brand system that felt connected to service while remaining modern, restrained, and distinct.
That balance gave TCN immediate recognition through a distinct visual language that differentiated it within the veteran nonprofit space. The green palette provided a clear connection to military service, while textural photography, strong graphic structure, and a consistent visual language gave the organization a sophisticated system that could scale across digital, print, social, video, and live event environments without requiring custom imagery for every application.
From there, Hoflen translated the direction into a complete brand platform spanning identity, website, social, collateral, motion, video, events, and the tools needed to support early conversations with partners and supporters.
The launch was built as the foundation for an organization expected to grow. As TCN’s role expanded, the brand system expanded with it, helping the organization maintain consistency while moving quickly through new campaigns, events, reports, proposals, microsites, and digital infrastructure.
BRAND EXPANSION
THE RESULT
The Chamberlain Network launched with the presence of an organization that felt established from day one.
The brand gave the team a clear, distinctive identity in a saturated space. The platform helped TCN accelerate the path from launch to legitimacy, providing a foundation that could support more than a first impression – it could support growth.
As the organization moved quickly, the system continued to expand with it. Event materials, social assets, proposals, reports, campaign tools, and the second-generation website all built from the same core foundation, allowing TCN to evolve without losing coherence.
The engagement did not simply help TCN launch. It helped the organization become visible, credible, and ready to operate at the level of its ambition.
”HOFLEN UNDERSTANDS HOW TO TRANSLATE MISSION INTO DESIGN, AND THEY MOVE QUICKLY WITHOUT SACRIFICING QUALITY. WE COULD NOT HAVE GROWN INTO THE ORGANIZATION WE ARE TODAY WITHOUT THEIR EXPERTISE, GUIDANCE, AND HARD WORK.

WHY IT MATTERS
New organizations don’t just need to exist. They need to be understood. Trusted. To feel real before the market has time to catch up.
That’s especially true for organizations working in complex civic spaces, where credibility, tone, neutrality, and clarity are not cosmetic concerns. They determine whether the organization can be taken seriously by veterans, partners, policymakers, funders, and the communities it hopes to reach.
The Chamberlain Network had the expertise, conviction, and mission to make an impact. Hoflen helped build the brand infrastructure needed to carry that mission into the world with confidence.
For new organizations, the right launch can do more than make a team easier to understand, easier to trust, and harder to overlook. It can compress the distance between the ambition and relevance.
